Meet my new website!

My brand new website is now live! It's my first crack at web design so it's not perfect but feel free to check it out at www.jakethompsondesign.com

There's a few bits of my work up there and I hope to be updating and improving it all the time. It was a great project - I really enjoyed it and it's an invaluable skill.

My best friend announced her engagement yesterday! It's very exciting, and got me thinking about invitations and all the other great design stuff that comes with weddings.
Which in turn reminded me about an awesome studio called Studio Seed. The girls who runs the studio, Tamsin and her friend Jess make beautiful individual wedding invitations, VERY jealous!

Playing with Layouts

Our first brief of year 2 was to create 8 layouts using collected magazines and newspapers - the aim was to explore and challenge conventional layouts and to learn the basics of creating a spread. These photos are not my final layouts, they're a few experiments, I'll load the finished ones later.

Degrees of Vandalism

Final image produced on Illustrator as part of a brief on Isotypes. It's based on 'what's hot' tables, the idea being that less serious acts of vandalism appear on the top, and the more serious acts are on the bottom. I'm really pleased with the result!
